Location: Hub Based - Hybrid for all - but we’re looking for somebody who is comfortable being in the London office twice a week.

Where you’ll work: Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person. You’ll be assigned to the closest one of our three hub offices, Bristol, Glasgow, or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Each hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop, is designed to inspire people, help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

Teamworking for the planet: Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. This role sits in a fast paced and autonomous corporate venture called OVO Solar & Heating, whose remit is to re-establish and grow OVO’s renewables business. The business was launched in March 2025 on a highly innovative Franchising business model, and within 4 months outpaced OVO’s best ever monthly solar sales. By the end of 2027, the unit is expected to be one of the largest solar & heat pump installation companies in the UK.

This role in a nutshell: The role is akin to a Chief Of Staff role, and reports directly into the CEO of the business unit. It will engage very closely with all the internal unit functions - operations, sales, marketing, tech, business operations - as well as many of the main OVO Energy functions from marketing to finance. Please note, this role will be offered on an initial 6 month fixed-term contract.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Coordination and stakeholder management across the internal team as well as wider OVO to ensure the business unit is executing to plan.
  • Consultant and partner to member(s) of the LT, building strong working relationships with their teams and with people across the business.
  • Business Unit Strategy & Resource Allocation - 5 year plan, 2 year plan, budget - develop and iterate strategic documents and artefacts (including CLT and Board materials). This typically involves designing compelling presentations for company-wide meetings and speaking engagements.
  • Collaborate cross functionally across the organisation, partnering with the planning function and finance partners to ensure strategies are aligned to Financial outlooks, and dependencies are detailed.
  • Proactively prepare and present materials for Board meetings, collaborating with the central Strategy team as needed to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Analytics including performance insights, dashboarding & data.
  • Market/Customer/Competitor research and benchmarking.
  • Business rhythm & comms including key forums, offsites, all hands, stakeholders.
  • Ad Hoc Special Projects including working directly with Revenue and Operations teams, and with Franchisees. This is likely to include Sales & Marketing initiatives, establishing new revenue lines, developing new versions of the business model, developing the Franchisor team, and corporate strategy initiatives.

Within your first 6 months you’ll achieve:

  • Significant contribution to the business unit strategy, with access to OVO Energy’s wider strategy.
  • Commercial and business skills and experience with exposure to all major business functions, as well as a deep understanding of Franchising as an innovative commercial model.
  • Deep understanding of the solar and heat pump market in the UK.
  • Leadership & Management mentorship from the CEO.
  • A CV moment to be proud of and to leverage: building one of the UK’s most innovative and largest Solar & Heat Pump players.

You’ll be a successful Strategy Partner at OVO if you’re a:

  • No-ego problem-solver willing to get their hands dirty, and with a track record of producing results fast.
  • High-energy, self-motivated can-do person, comfortable with ambiguity and an environment with little structure.
  • Confident yet warm communicator with exceptional soft skills including empathy and relationship-building, able to influence people to move at an uncomfortable pace.
  • Strong financial planning, business casing, analysis, and modelling skills.
  • Commercial and/or analytical experience, for example in strategy consulting roles.
  • Experience in a start-up or high-intensity, resource-lean venture.
