That’s why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.
Teamworking for the planet: Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how:
- You will be working in the Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing team. From public affairs to advertising, sustainability to social media, we’re at the heart of the business telling OVO’s story to the public, media, government, and industry.
This role in a nutshell: In this role, you’ll be supporting the delivery of campaigns - across corporate and consumer - and leading on communication plans for announcements to enhance OVO’s reputation. This will include newsgathering, drafting materials, sourcing and managing case studies, creating content, liaison with stakeholders, pitching press and managing press queries, and briefing spokespeople.
Deputy to Head of External Communications & Social for press enquiries, crisis communications and media handling. You will build positive relationships with our Operations team to ensure the press office is best in class, supporting customers when they need us. You’ll be enthusiastic about pitching stories to key media and building relationships with journalists.
You’ll be working with key OVO functions, including our Commercial, Policy, Regulatory, People, Risk, Brand, Marketing and wider Corporate Affairs teams by supporting OVO’s communications strategy. You’ll be happy to support other areas in the wider External Affairs team, where required.
You’ll have responsibility for the day to day management of OVO’s media monitoring agency and subscription services. The role will provide daily media monitoring across national, trade and online press, circulating to senior stakeholders and the wider business. You’ll lead on managing OVO’s speaker engagement grid and award submissions. Drafting submissions and associated supporting content.
You’ll assist with preparation and help facilitate meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring agendas and actions are noted and shared promptly to ensure we meet project deadlines. Finally, the role will help with the smooth running of the team, such as raising POs and tracking financial spend, and analysing the press office status to the wider business (e.g. monthly updates and forward planning risks).
This is a fantastic opportunity for a media savvy individual who is keen to step into a visible and high performing in-house role.
Your key outcomes will be:
- You’ll have 3+ years experience of working in-house or agency (energy background is not a requirement of the role).
- You’ll have excellent writing and verbal communication skills and feel confident raising new ideas.
- You’ll be able to keep team resources up to date, including media lists, content planners and key messaging documents.
- You’ll be comfortable working in a very fast paced environment. OVO is constantly evolving with an entrepreneurial approach to ‘find a better way’.
- You’ll be highly responsive and proactive in everything you do.
- You’ll be self-confident but also humble enough to critically appraise your own work.
- You’ll be willing to work out of hours where required to support the press office function as part of the team rota.
You’ll be a successful Senior Communications Executive here at OVO if you…
- Experience of working in a press office in-house/or at an agency.
- A hunger to work on exciting projects and feel confident taking the lead to come up with new ideas to drive the communications strategy.
