Everyone belongs at OVO

At OVO, we are on a mission to solve one of humanity\'s biggest challenges, the climate crisis. And we know it takes all of us to change the world. That\'s why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.

Teamworking for the planet

Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen.

Come and join us as we shape the future of Product & Tech at OVO, where you feel inspired, have the opportunity to achieve mastery, are empowered to deliver great experiences for customers, and contribute to a clear purpose – building outstanding products and services that make a real difference.

We\'re on a mission to make things simpler and more focussed, so we can deliver the things that we know will enhance our customer experiences, at pace. The journey we\'re on means we reset being a tech and customer-led company and will result in us delivering a service where customers want to stay for longer, buy more, and tell their friends, all with a lower cost base and greater efficiency.

This isn\'t just a reshuffle; it involves fundamental changes to our ways of working, team structures, and how teams are composed – all grounded in principles that foster high performance, locality, and simplicity – making it easier to get things done and creating opportunities for you to grow.

This role in a nutshell:

As a Delivery & Growth Lead, you’ll have a unique dual focus: keeping delivery flowing and growing the brilliant people behind it.

You’ll drive continuous improvement across our tech delivery lifecycle, working closely with Product, Design, Engineering and Agile Coaching. You’ll lead on delivery rhythms, spot and remove systemic blockers, and help standardise how we work across teams.

At the same time, you’ll be a key champion for our people – working with ICs and the People team to shape development plans, embed growth frameworks, and make OVO a place where talent thrives.

Initially, you\'ll collaborate to lead a team of approximately 25 individuals within our Technology and Product functions, all while ensuring everyone receives a high-quality, personalised development experience. You will take a holistic approach to people leadership, supporting the team across all aspects—from development and wellbeing to day-to-day administrative needs.

Your key outcomes will be:

Ensure the efficient, high-quality delivery of product and engineering objectives within a designated scope

  • Success metrics: Team velocity/throughput, cycle time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, adherence to quality standards, successful delivery of planned objectives.
  • Collaborating closely with your IC partner, support, influence and encourage the growth and development of individuals at Senior and below role levels with their career growth and performance.

  • Success metrics: Effectiveness of IC partnership model (as measured by feedback surveys, successful development plan execution), IC Growth Framework adoption, employee engagement/satisfaction scores (e.g., DevEx surveys), participation/engagement in relevant communities of practise, measurable improvements from enablement initiatives, and qualitative feedback on manager\'s facilitation/coaching effectiveness.
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery Metrics Management and Execution: Take ownership for the timely, high-quality delivery of planned engineering work by actively participating in planning, tracking progress, and removing obstacles. Partner with Product Management, Technical Leads, and stakeholders to align priorities, define requirements, manage dependencies, and ensure smooth product delivery. Monitor and improve key delivery metrics (e.g., cycle time, deployment frequency) through trend analysis and systemic improvements. Ensure your team upholds OVO\'s engineering standards and processes, contributing to enhancements and proactively managing risks and escalations.
  • People Growth & Enablement Facilitation: In partnership with experienced Individual Contributors (ICs), facilitate OVO\'s IC Growth Frameworks, enabling goal-setting, fair performance discussions, identifying development opportunities, and guiding promotion readiness. Coach IC partners on developmental duties and engineers on career navigation, focusing on systemic improvements. Foster a culture of continuous learning and psychological safety, champion engineering enablement by addressing productivity blockers, apply OVO\'s Ways of Working, and support Communities of Practice for skill development.
  • Performance Management & Feedback: Conduct regular performance reviews aligned with role competencies, providing constructive, actionable feedback for growth. Implement and refine OVO\'s performance management processes to be fair, transparent, and reflect our values.
  • Individual Contributor Growth Frameworks: Own and continuously improve OVO\'s Individual Contributor (IC) career frameworks, ensuring clear communication, understanding, and consistent application. Collaborate with leadership to define levels, expectations, gather feedback for refinement, and drive consistency across technical roles.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate closely with other Growth and Delivery Leads, Engineering Leads, and People Team partners to ensure consistency and best practices across OVO\'s engineering teams. Effectively communicate progress, challenges, and development plans to stakeholders, advocating for your team\'s needs.
  • Day-to-day Support: Provide typical line management support for people processes such as approvals for holiday, sick leave, and expenses.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding (as needed): Participate in engineering recruitment, assessing skills and cultural alignment. Ensure new team members receive effective onboarding, mentorship, and support to integrate into their team and OVO\'s culture.
  • You’ll be a successful Delivery & Growth Lead at OVO if you…

  • Proven ability in managing software engineering delivery (including planning, progress tracking, and effective stakeholder management), coupled with a strong understanding of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, established engineering best practices, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentorship capabilities, with demonstrable experience in coaching, fostering the development of software engineers, facilitating career frameworks, and conducting performance reviews, all driven by a genuine passion for nurturing talent and high emotional intelligence.
  • Proven success in identifying and driving process improvements and systemic enablement within engineering teams, underpinned by strong problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to the continuous improvement of both people and people-focused growth processes.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, facilitation, and influencing skills, with a natural ability to build trust and rapport with engineers at all levels, particularly effective in partnership models.
  • Highly adaptable, thriving in fast-paced, scaling technology environments and dynamic, complex Agile settings.
  • Desirable experience includes: facilitating or actively participating in Communities of Practice, managing teams with high support ratios or distributed responsibility models, training or enabling peer coaches or mentors, a technical background relevant to OVO Engineering\'s domain, or familiarity with project management, CI/CD, and monitoring tools used at OVO.
