We are looking for an enthusiastic and result-oriented Supply Chain Planner to join our Supply Chain Management team at Scolmore.
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining agreed stock levels of assigned SKU’s, placing orders with nominated suppliers and expediting delivery as required.
Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will use forecasting data and relevant software to identify risks, resolve supply issues, and ensure products are available to meet customer demand.

Main Duties
- Support the Supply Chain Manager to design and deliver excellent service to the business from a well organised & highly trained supply chain function.
- Using relevant software and other channels of information, continually review and understand changes in sales forecast and how this impacts the volume of stocked SKU’s to be ordered.
- Identify potential risks and variances to plan and advise relevant stakeholders in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that the data related to your areas of responsibility is accurate, including but not limited to stock balance information for SKUs in your scope.
- Place orders for stock replenishment, adhering to minimum order quantities, understanding lead times for supply, and having an awareness of unloading and warehouse capacity.
- Support colleagues in expediting or delaying delivery as may be required by the business.
- Liaise with Procurement, Customer Services and Warehouse departments as required to ensure timely & accurate information is communicated to all those concerned.
- Proactively communicate with Suppliers to maintain positive relationships to ensure that they have the right capacity to support the business needs.
- Assist as required to address any supply issues or recurring quality problems.
- Work as part of the team to coordinate and optimise supply channels and control costs.
- Ensure that good records and documents are maintained and safeguarded in accordance with company operating procedures and GDPR standards.
- Organise and book pre-shipment product inspections, providing communication to all relevant parties and assisting in the resolution of any corrective action.
- Provide relevant stock inventory details to Customer Services as required, including any details of products in transit yet to be received by the warehouse.
- Monitor and update as relevant, any data such as lead time and expected delivery time, ensuring that the actual location of the products in question is explicitly stated.
- Expedite, collate and validate all shipping / import documentation as required.
- Assist the process of shipping goods from the UK to international suppliers and manufacturers based in the Far East
- Review and be part of the supplier invoice approval process to enable payment within agreed terms.
- Support the Procurement & Supply Chain team by standing in for colleagues as may be required.
- Undertake any ad-hoc tasks to support the successful completion of the department’s responsibilities including the provision of information for compiling current status reports.
- Provide relevant details and support to Procurement and Inbound Logistics to enable the efficient operation of the overall function.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Must have the ability to work with complex data with a keen eye for detail
- Organised and enthusiastic, you will be results orientated
- Ability to plan own work, identify priorities early and meet objectives
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Experience of working to changeable & tight deadlines with a resilience to work with accuracy under pressure
- Ability to review work methods and suggest alternative methods that save time and money with compromising the quality of delivery
- Highly proficient in the use of Excel and other more general business software platforms such as Sage , Epicor, Slim Stock
- Working knowledge and understanding of import / export procedures and an awareness of relevant documents required for such transactions
- Demonstrable experience in raising well organised purchase orders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a helpful nature
Desirable
- Familiar with the process of booking Air, Sea and Land logistics
