Due to business growth, ESP are looking to recruit an additional Design Support Technician as part of the design support team within the wider technical team. This role will be providing design drawings as part of the UK Design Support team and provide product related support on our CCTV, Fire Alarm ranges, Access Control, Disabled Refuge products to our Internal and External Sales teams and our customers.
Main Duties
- Develop system designs from customer specifications and fire strategies.
- Write up designs into Design Specifications and supporting design documentation.
- Undertake calculations required to validate system designs.
- Transpose system designs into CAD drawings and Relux.
- Assist with development of designs in accordance with BS standards and codes of practice.
- Maintain up to date information for teamwork schedule.
- Respond to customer design enquiries.
- Complete relevant parts of O&M manual.
- Site surveys and customer meetings as required for the role.
- Be part of the design rota to book commissioning engineers to attend sites for ESP.
- Undertake any other tasks deemed to be necessary to contribute to the efficiency and productivity of the Design team.
Skills and Experience
- The successful Designer should have a strong technical and electrical background and previous experience in design of fire and emergency lighting systems, CCTV, intruder, access control and Emergency Voice Systems.
- A professional telephone manner, along with an ability to achieve tasks in a timely manner.
- Technical and personal credibility to work effectively with other teams within the business.
- Ability to work proactively, prioritise tasks and coordinate with other team members.
- Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- A strong team player but also able to work as an individual.
- Self-motivated with a strong ability to work with discipline.
- Ability to demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
- Ability to communicate through concept artwork and CAD.
- Fully conversant in Microsoft Office packages.
- Intermediate knowledge in Adobe software’s (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator).
- Knowledge of BS5839-1 & 6 & 9.
- Knowledge of Electrical Circuitry.
- Knowledge of Wiring Regulations BS7671.
- Be able to demonstrate knowledge of standard commissioning practices to BS5839-1:2025.
- FIA Training desirable (training will be provided).
- Full Clean UK Driving License.
Option to purchase up to 5 extra days annual leave.
