About the Role
We are searching on behalf of our client for this role. This position is not with OVI. Join our client as the first dedicated engineering hire driving their transformation into an
AI-native delivery business . Rather than simply building internal software, you'll help create the
Control Room , a proprietary platform that will become the operating system powering how the business delivers services and how clients experience them.
The Control Room combines dashboards, AI agents, structured workflows, proprietary knowledge, and operational intelligence into a single platform that continuously captures and compounds institutional knowledge into a long-term competitive advantage.
Working directly with the Digital Innovation Lead and reporting to the COO, you'll help shape the architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction behind the company's most strategically important initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship production-ready features into the Control Room, relied upon daily by internal teams and clients.
- Build on top of
- Supabase ,
- Vercel , and the
- Vercel AI / Agent SDK , leveraging
- Claude Code ,
Codex , or equivalent AI coding tools as a core part of your engineering workflow.
- Design scalable architectures capable of supporting 100+ internal users and multiple client organisations.
- Own the data layer by modelling complex business domains and creating structured, queryable knowledge for both humans and AI agents.
- Design authentication, permissions, and multi-tenant architectures that scale with the platform.
- Build AI-powered workflows by combining deterministic systems with agentic architectures where appropriate.
- Establish engineering standards covering testing, AI evaluations, deployment practices, observability, and code quality.
- Define architectural patterns and engineering conventions that future team members will build upon.
- Make pragmatic build-versus-buy decisions while protecting the company's proprietary intellectual property.
- Partner closely with product and business leadership to ensure technical decisions support long-term commercial goals.
Your Profile
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with AI playing a significant role in how you build software.
- Strong experience using
- Claude Code ,
- Codex ,
- Cursor ,
Windsurf , or equivalent agentic coding environments.
- Excellent knowledge of
- Type Script ,
- React / Next. js , backend API development, and
Postgre SQL .
- Experience with
- Supabase and
Vercel is a strong advantage.
- Proven ability to model complex business domains and build scalable data structures.
- Familiarity with AI agent architecture, tool calling, memory, retrieval, evaluation frameworks, and guardrails.
- Experience building production software used by real customers.
- Strong systems thinking, architectural judgement, and problem-solving abilities.
- What\'s Offered
- Opportunity to become the founding engineering hire behind one of the company\'s most strategic initiatives.
- Work directly with senior leadership, including the COO and Digital Innovation Lead.
- Significant influence over product architecture, engineering standards, and technical direction.
- Build an AI-native platform from the ground up using modern technologies and development workflows.
- Be part of a small, ambitious team where your work will have immediate and visible impact.
- Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who enjoys building software that matters.
You thrive in fast-moving environments, take ownership from idea to production, and continuously improve what you build after release.
You think in systems rather than individual features, use AI as an architectural partner instead of simply an autocomplete tool, and make thoughtful engineering trade-offs that balance speed, scalability, and maintainability.
You\'re curious about how the business operates, motivated by solving real customer problems, and excited to help define the engineering culture and technical foundations that future team members will inherit.
When you apply to this role, AI may be used to help analyse and format your information so the hiring team can review it more easily.
