Within your #OneTeam, you’ll be part of a team of 7 other technicians and 2 supporting Technical Leads to provide operational excellence on IT maintenance. You’ll be involved in the daily handover meeting, communicating on all events in the datacentre and handing over key details.
Your main responsibilities:
- Enable datacentre capacity growth:
- Optimise racks for new servers
- Connect power and network cables within server and network racks
- Install servers as required by the Team Leader and in accordance with the operational plan
- Assemble and install server hardware (assemble/install/upgrade/update servers)
- Adhere to health and safety rules and regulatory requirements
- Complete interventions on the servers in response to monitoring alerts or customer tickets
- Upgrade the servers (change obsolete components)
- Undertake curative maintenance on delivered servers
- Troubleshoot complex issues using various tools
- Perform regular established maintenance procedures
- Understand and maintain cabling systems
- Replace failed networking devices within racks
- Implement actions to resolve problems related to the server environment
- Ensure servers are functioning properly via analysis and monitoring
- Keep asset databases up to date
- Manage and resolve system failures quickly
- Escalate incident tickets to L2 support where appropriate
- Assist team members with other relevant maintenance tasks within the DC
Your future impact:
In 6 months, you will be working within the 24/7 Run technician shift pattern. You will be capable of interacting with the IT assets on site, respecting the operational standards and expectations for working in a live IT environment. Capable of escalating issues and problems that you cannot resolve with the level 2 technicians or technical leads. Able to work on basic troubleshooting topics alone or with the assistance of your colleagues, working within the SLA targets.
And in 1 year, you will be capable and comfortable with working with most IT assets on site. Comfortable and familiar with the process of escalating and communicating any abnormalities to the on-site teams and escalation resources at your disposal. Able to contribute to the growth projects for the site, installing, patching and powering network, server and general IT infrastructure. Comfortable with working within the targets set. Comfortable identifying priority work or tasks and seeing them through to completion.
