If you enjoy working with team members whose defining characteristics are exceptional client service, initiative, professionalism, responsiveness, and adaptability, you may be the person we are seeking to join our Revenue Cycle Operations department in our London office as a Legal Cashier Specialist on a fixed term contract.

The role is responsible for working as part of the Client Account team in the Firm’s London office, which also incorporates the day-to-day financial operations processing for the Firm’s Brussels, Dubai and Tokyo offices.

The role will cover all aspects of legal finance client account cashiering, while also providing essential support to projects and wider initiatives.

You will be involved in day-to-day activities, ensuring the accurate and timely posting of all transactions and full compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules, VAT and AML requirements, as well as adherence to internal financial controls and policies.

This is a proactive role where ideas and initiative are encouraged in order to deliver a best-in-class service to the Firm and its clients.

Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 5:30 pm with flexibility in accordance with the needs of the business.

Our current working from home policy allows for two days working from home, subject to business need.

This policy is subject to change and does not form part of contractual terms.

Please note that the anticipated start date for this role is November.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accurate and timely input and posting of all client account transactions, including all payment types and receipts, in accordance with internal Service Level Agreements and the current SRA Accounts Rules 2019.
  • Ensure that all relevant financial controls and the Firm’s policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Monitor daily compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules through exception control reporting, ensuring any breaches are promptly reported and remedied.
  • Apply internal AML procedures to cross-reference payees and ensure compliance.
  • Work as part of a team committed to providing exceptional service to the Firm and its clients.
  • Review client account bank statements daily, across all currencies, to identify and process incoming funds.
  • Prepare and process electronic payments and receipts in accordance with statutory requirements, internal controls and Service Level Agreements.
  • Authorise client and office account payments in line with current procedures
  • Follow up on unallocated monies and ensure the correct treatment of funds.
  • Assist with the reconciliation and subsequent treatment of residual client account balances, ensuring all records are fully maintained and accurately completed.
  • Provide support and insight in relation to outstanding bank reconciliation items.
  • Provide advice on deposit, treasury and money market accounts.
  • Calculate and apply client interest.
  • Act as a point of contact and provide support for client account queries, including the ability to interpret client ledgers.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including the SRA Accounts Rules audit.
  • Maintain the highest standards of service and work quality, ensuring strict deadlines are met at month-end and year-end.

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

  • The candidate must have a minimum of two years’ legal finance experience in client account cashiering, preferably gained within a global law firm.
  • The candidate must have experience working as part of a team in a busy environment, dealing with high-value transactions.
  • Knowledge of statutory regulations, including the SRA Accounts Rules and Anti-Money Laundering regulations, is required.
  • Experience of Aderant Expert or Elite is preferable.
