LUNCH & PLAYGROUND SUPERVISORS

Overstone Park School is seeking caring, reliable and patient Lunch and Playground Supervisors to join our team.

Hours: 11:30am-2:30pm, Monday to Friday

Hours per week: 15 hours

Working weeks: 38 weeks per academic year

Salary: £12.71 per hour

Holiday: Paid statutory holiday entitlement

Contract: Part-time, term-time

Responsible to: Principal / Senior Leadership Team

About the Role

You will help create a calm, safe and welcoming lunchtime environment across the dining areas and playground. You will support pupils with their individual needs, encourage positive behaviour and promote safe, inclusive play while helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise pupils safely in the dining areas and playground.
  • Support pupils to move calmly and safely into and out of the dining area.
  • Encourage good manners, positive behaviour and respectful social interaction.
  • Provide appropriate support to pupils who require additional assistance.
  • Promote safe, inclusive play and recreational activities.
  • Monitor playground areas and respond appropriately to behaviour or safety concerns.
  • Ensure pupils remain within designated supervised areas.
  • Follow individual risk assessments, behaviour plans and safeguarding arrangements.
  • Report accidents, incidents, injuries and safeguarding concerns promptly.
  • Assist with minor first aid where appropriately trained.
  • Support pupils to develop independence and social skills.
  • Work closely with teachers, mentors, pastoral staff and the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety and confidentiality.
  • Undertake other reasonable lunchtime supervisory duties as required.

  • Able to undertake outdoor playground supervision in appropriate weather conditions.

Previous experience of working with children or young people, particularly pupils with SEND, would be an advantage but is not essential. Full induction and appropriate training will be provided.

The successful applicant will be expected to remain alert to signs of harm, report concerns in line with school procedures, complete required safeguarding and child protection training, comply with relevant sections of Keeping Children Safe in Education, and follow the school's Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies.

Appointment will be subject to safer recruitment checks, including satisfactory references, identity and right-to-work checks and an enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List information, where applicable.

Working Pattern and Pay:

  • Monday to Friday: 11:30am-2:30pm.
  • Daily hours: 3 hours.
  • Weekly hours: 15 hours.
  • Working weeks: 38 weeks per academic year.
  • Hourly rate: £12.71.
  • Basic pay for 38 working weeks: £7,244.70 per annum, before holiday pay.

Paid holiday

Statutory holiday entitlement will be calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable rules for part-year workers.
