- Position: Behaviour Mentor (Apprentice) - Full Time Available
- Salary: £18,000 - £20,000 per annum before tax and National Insurance.
- Hours: 35 working hours (8.00 am to 4.00 pm with a one hour unpaid lunch break) per week.
- Paid holiday: 13 weeks per annum.
Summary of the Role
Provide a complementary service to behaviour mentors, teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential or access the curriculum. Primary focus on pupils with multiple disadvantages, including:
- Children with special or medical needs.
- Children with a statement of special educational needs.
- Challenging behaviour.
Responsibilities
- Work one‑to‑one or in groups with pupils, serving as a listener, facilitator for learning, encourager, motivator and role model.
- Support pupils’ additional needs and behaviour to improve attainment.
- Support the ethos of the school and improve progress and achievement by minimising barriers to learning and maximising pupil participation.
- Work with families and the wider community.
Qualifications
- Qualification in Level 2 or 3 in childcare or Health and Social Care.
- Experience: Three years working with children or within the care sector. Training is offered.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Amendments to the ROA provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are protected. The MOJ’s guidance on the ROA and the Exceptions Order gives information about which convictions must be declared during job applications.
