ICT & Business Teacher role at OVERSTONE PARK SCHOOL LTD.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classes of different ages and abilities. Marking work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of pupils\β progress and development.
- Researching new topic areas, maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge, and devising and writing new curriculum materials.
- Selecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipment, including podcasts and interactive whiteboards.
- Undertaking pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor, and supporting pupils on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties.
- Preparing pupils for qualifications and external examinations.
- Managing pupil behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehaviour.
- Supervising and supporting the work of learning mentors.
- Participating in and organising extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events.
- Participating in departmental meetings, parents\β evenings and whole school training events.
- Liaising with other professionals, such as learning mentors, careers advisers, educational psychologists and education welfare officers.
- Undergoing regular observations and participating in regular in-service training (INSET) as part of continuing professional development (CPD).
- Preparing differentiated work for those pupils who have Special Educational Needs and ensuring sufficient supervision and guidance for pupils who have Special Educational Needs.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification
- Relevant postgraduate professional qualification
- Experience teaching KS3 and KS4
- Good classroom teacher
- Ability to motivate and interest pupils
- Ability to set and attain high standards from pupils
- Ability to use ICT
- Sound understanding of the curriculum
- Excellent behaviour management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of key performance indicators and the ability to use them to monitor progress
- Awareness of the needs of children who speak English as an additional language or have SEND
- An understanding of how a pupilβs learning is affected by their intellectual, emotional, and social development, and the stages of child development
- An understanding of equal opportunity issues
