Behaviour Mentors are required at Overstone Independent School in Northampton on a permanent basis.

Job Details:

  • Position: Behaviour Mentor (Apprentice) - Full Time Available
  • Base pay range: £18,000.00 to £20,000 per annum before the deduction of tax and National Insurance
  • Annual full-time salary for 35 working hours (8.00 am to 4.00 pm with one hour unpaid lunch break) per week which is paid over 52 weeks.
  • 13 weeks paid holiday annually.

Summary of a Behaviour Mentor's role:

  • To provide a complementary service to behaviour mentors and teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential, or accessing the curriculum.
  • To work with a range of pupils, but give priority to those who need the most help, especially those experiencing multiple disadvantages, including children with special or medical needs, challenging behaviour, and children with a statement of special educational needs.
  • To predominantly be education based but will have a wider remit including working with families and the wider community.
  • To work with children on a one-to-one basis or in small or large groups, acting as a listener, facilitator for learning, encourager, motivator, and role model.

Core Purpose:

  • Working with pupils' additional needs and behaviour has a significant impact upon their attainment.
  • To support the ethos of the school.
  • To improve progress and achievement by helping to minimize barriers to learning and maximize pupil participation.

Qualifications:

  • Qualification in Level 2 or 3 in childcare or Health and Social Care. Training is offered.
  • Experience: Three years of working with children or within the care sector.
