  • About Overland

Overland has built its business as a specialist in the design, sourcing and wholesale of branded footwear.

More recently it has started direct to consumer sales through the launch of its e-commerce offering.

In addition to the Karl Lagerfeld and G.

Bass brand licenses, Dickies and Bobcat have joined the portfolio and we have extremely exciting launch plans for both during 2026.

Overland has also recently launched its own brands Lili Curia and Strike both of which have had tremendous success.

Our Head Office is based in Camden (with a Design Studio near Oxford Street, Merchandising Lab in Kentish Town, E-Commerce warehouse in Nottingham, and our sourcing operation in China).

The company plans to move to a new office in Angel, bringing together its London operations in late 2026/early 2027.

Role Purpose

We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist who enjoys variety, thrives in a hands‑on environment and wants to make a genuine difference.

Working closely with the Head of People & Culture, you will play a key role across the entire employee lifecycle, providing practical HR support while helping to shape and improve our people practices.

No two days are the same – one day you could be supporting a manager with an employee relations matter, the next reviewing a policy, improving an HR process or helping launch a new people initiative.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, is not afraid of the administrative detail that keeps a People function running smoothly but also loves contributing ideas and getting involved in projects that enhance the employee experience.

As part of a small, collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to influence how we continue to develop our People & Culture function as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Manage recruitment activity from advertising vacancies through to onboarding, partnering with hiring managers to attract great people.
  • Coordinate offers, contracts, right to work checks and onboarding, ensuring every new starter has a positive experience.
  • Support employer branding initiatives and continually look for ways to enhance the recruitment journey.
  • Employee Relations
  • Provide practical HR support to managers on employee relations matters including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance issues.
  • Conduct investigations, prepare documentation and support formal meetings in line with Company policies and employment legislation.
  • Build trusted relationships with managers and employees, providing balanced, commercially focused advice.
  • People Operations & HR Administration
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Prepare employment documentation including contracts, contractual changes and leaver paperwork.
  • Coordinate probation reviews and ensure HR administration is completed accurately, confidentially and on time.
  • Prepare monthly payroll information for our payroll provider.
  • Policies, Compliance & Governance
  • Draft, review and maintain HR policies, procedures and employee communications.
  • Help ensure compliance with employment legislation, GDPR and Company policies.
  • Support HR reporting, audits and continuous improvements to our People processes.
  • Coordinate performance review processes and support managers in having meaningful performance conversations.
  • Identify learning and development needs and help organise training initiatives.
  • Monitor mandatory training and support wider development programmes.
  • Carry out salary benchmarking to support fair and competitive reward practices.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, wellbeing activities and Company events.
  • Coordinate engagement surveys, analyse feedback and help turn ideas into meaningful improvements.
  • Manage employee benefits administration.
  • Contribute to creating a positive, collaborative and inclusive workplace where people can do their best work.
  • Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Play an active role in a range of People & Culture projects across the business.
  • Look for opportunities to improve processes, simplify ways of working and enhance the employee experience.
  • Work alongside the Head of People & Culture on both day‑to‑day operational priorities and longer‑term strategic initiatives.

About You

You will be someone who enjoys balancing detail with the bigger picture.

You are equally happy preparing contracts, managing payroll information or updating HR systems as you are contributing ideas, improving processes and helping shape new initiatives.

You will also bring

  • Around five years' experience in a broad HR Generalist or People & Culture role.
  • A good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting employee relations cases from start to finish.
  • Experience managing recruitment and onboarding.
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Confidence drafting policies, procedures and employee communications.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work confidently with people at all levels.
  • A flexible, collaborative approach and a willingness to get involved wherever needed.
  • A proactive mindset, always looking for ways to improve processes, embrace innovative technology and make things better.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and HR systems.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards) would be an advantage but is not essential.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to join a growing business where People & Culture is valued and continues to evolve.

You will work closely with senior leaders, have real variety in your role, and be encouraged to contribute ideas that genuinely make a difference.

If you enjoy building relationships, improving how things are done and being part of a collaborative team, we would love to hear from you.

We also offer generous benefits and annual leave packages!
