Accounts Payable Assistant
Looking to take the next step in your finance career?
We’re looking for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join our Finance team. This would be a great opportunity for someone in their first or second finance role who has some hands-on accounts experience and is ready to build on it.
You may already be studying towards your AAT qualification, or thinking about taking that next step. Either way, you will be joining a supportive team where you can continue developing your accounting knowledge and gain broader experience within a growing business.
You will help keep our day-to-day accounts payable processes running smoothly, from supplier invoices and payments through to expenses, reconciliations and month-end support.
What you’ll be doing:
- Processing supplier invoices accurately and making sure they are correctly coded and authorised
- Reconciling supplier statements and investigating any differences
- Preparing supplier payment runs
- Processing company credit card transactions and employee expenses
- Responding to supplier queries and building good working relationships
- Keeping supplier accounts and records accurate and up to date
- Supporting the month-end process, including supplier reconciliations
- Assisting with VAT records and other finance reporting
- Working closely with colleagues across the business to resolve queries
- Supporting the wider Finance team when needed
We currently work with Sage 50 and Sage 200 , so previous Sage experience would be helpful, although it isn't essential.
What we’re looking for:
You don't need to know everything already. We're looking for someone with a good grounding in finance who is keen to learn and develop.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Some previous experience in an accounts or finance role
- A basic understanding of accounts payable/purchase ledger
- Good numerical and Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail and an organised approach
- Confidence communicating with suppliers and colleagues
- A willingness to ask questions, learn and get involved
- An interest in developing a longer-term career in finance
You may already be studying towards AAT or an equivalent qualification , and we'll support your continued development.
What we offer:
- Hybrid working
- 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
- Private healthcare
- Life assurance and critical illness cover
- Heavily discounted products and four free pairs of shoes per annum
- Additional paid holiday during our winter closure, typically between Christmas and New Year and not taken from your annual leave allowance
If you're looking for a role where you can build on the finance experience you already have, learn from a supportive team and continue developing your career, we'd love to hear from you.
