Job Title: Joinery Estimator – Commercial Fit-Outs Location: Surrey Salary: Up to £65-70k basic salary (dependent on experience) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We are looking for a skilled Joinery Estimator with proven experience in commercial fit-outs to join my clients estimating team. This role plays a critical part in the successful delivery of high-quality joinery packages for commercial projects, including offices, retail, hospitality, and leisure spaces. The right candidate will have a deep understanding of bespoke joinery and fit-out processes and will be confident in producing accurate and competitive tenders. Key Responsibilities * Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates for bespoke joinery elements within commercial fit-out projects * Interpret architectural, design, and shop drawings to produce take-offs and pricing schedules * Work closely with the pre-construction, design, and production teams to develop cost-effective solutions * Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and availability * Attend site surveys and pre-tender meetings when necessary to assess project scope * Provide input on buildability, value engineering, and project delivery strategies * Ensure all estimates align with project requirements, budgets, and timeframes * Track costs throughout the tender and handover process, and assist in post-tender reviews Requirements * Minimum 3–5 years’ estimating experience within the joinery and commercial fit-out industry * Strong technical knowledge of bespoke joinery, materials, finishes, and manufacturing methods * Demonstrated ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and joinery details * Proficiency in estimating software, Excel, and general IT systems * Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills * Organised, methodical, and able to manage multiple deadlines under pressure * Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams Desirable * Experience working on CAT A / CAT B fit-out projects * Understanding of fire-rated joinery and regulatory compliance * Formal qualifications in estimating, quantity surveying, or a related construction field What We Offer * Competitive salary up to £70,000 basic salary (based on experience) * Discretionary performance bonus * Clear path for progression within a well-respected and growing commercial joinery contractor * Supportive team environment with access to training and development To Apply: Oval Deene Recruitment is working as an exclusive agency with this client and position.
