The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Business Development Manager to join a highly successful and growing supplier within the KBB, worktops, surfaces and interiors sector.
Covering North England and Scotland, you will take ownership of a substantial geographical territory, developing existing accounts while proactively identifying and securing new business opportunities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven sales professional who understands the KBB, worktop, surfaces, merchant or associated building-products market and enjoys being out in the field developing long-term customer relationships.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving profitable sales growth across your territory and developing strong relationships with both new and existing customers.
Your responsibilities will include
- Managing and developing an established geographical sales territory across North England and Scotland.
- Identifying and winning new business opportunities.
- Developing existing accounts and identifying opportunities to increase revenue and customer spend.
- Building strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers.
- Conducting regular face-to-face customer visits throughout the territory.
- Developing relationships with kitchen retailers, trade customers, merchants and other relevant industry partners.
- Identifying market opportunities and proactively targeting prospective accounts.
- Managing your own sales pipeline from initial contact through to conversion.
- Negotiating commercially while protecting margin and profitability.
- Working closely with internal sales, customer service and wider commercial teams.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and territory plans.
- Monitoring competitor activity and providing valuable market intelligence.
- Consistently achieving and exceeding agreed revenue, margin and new-business targets.
About You
We're looking for a proactive, commercially focused sales professional who enjoys developing relationships and winning business.
The successful candidate will ideally have
- Previous experience as a Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, Territory Sales Manager or Key Account Manager.
- A proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Experience within the KBB, kitchens, worktops, surfaces, decorative panels, furniture, interiors, plumbing, merchant or building-products sectors would be highly advantageous.
- Strong new-business development skills alongside the ability to grow existing accounts.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- A strong understanding of territory management and account development.
- The confidence to engage with business owners, directors, purchasing teams and other senior decision-makers.
- A self-motivated and organised approach to managing a large geographical territory.
- Commercial awareness with a strong understanding of margin and profitability.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Flexibility to travel extensively throughout North England and Scotland.
