Are you an enthusiastic, organised individual looking to take your first step into HR?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised professional to join us as a HR Administrative Assistant, a key role focused on supporting the Business Manager with all aspects of HR administration in a fast-paced school environment, including the end-to-end management of Safer Recruitment, payroll, attendance management, and the maintenance of the academy’s Single Central Record.

This is a temporary role for 1 year in the first instance. There is the potential for this to be made permanent, this will be discussed with the successful candidate.

Welcome from the Principal:

Thank you for your interest in Outwood Grange Academy.

I am so pleased you are looking at this fantastic opportunity to work at Outwood Grange Academy. Our larger-than-average 11-19 academy is in the heart of Outwood, Wakefield, with easy access to major towns and cities via the motorway network.

As the Founding Academy of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, we embody the organisation's core ethos: making students our fundamental priority, raising standards, and transforming life chances.

I am truly proud of the work we do to ensure all aspects of education are of the highest possible quality. This is driven by our staff's unwavering dedication, their commitment to enabling every student to achieve their potential. We are passionate about the importance of CPD for our teachers as they are our greatest resource and are best placed to inspire students.

If this is a vision that resonates with you, I look forward to meeting you to discuss what you have to offer.

Responsibilities

In this dynamic post, no two days are the same. You will be supporting essential recruitment and compliance processes, driving end-to-end onboarding, conducting pre-employment and DBS checks, as well as managing the vital Single Central Record to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding. Beyond recruitment, you will oversee payroll and basic pension administration, as well as accurately tracking staff attendance and arranging Occupational Health referrals to support staff wellbeing. As part of your attendance management responsibility, you will be required to liaise with external stakeholders to arrange cover for absent staff members.

Crucially, you will serve as the warm, professional face of HR, acting as a first point of contact for staff queries and providing high-level administrative support for key HR meetings.

Qualifications

Whist prior experience in a school setting or experience with school management systems would be a bonus, a critical factor is your ability to handle sensitive matters with absolute confidentiality, as well as a proven track-record of your ability to communicate warmly and effectively with diverse audiences.
