Permanent. 3 days classroom-based, 2 days SENDCo responsibility.

As a Key Stage 2 teacher working within our family of schools, you will support children aged 7-11 in developing deeper knowledge and critical thinking through a broad and balanced curriculum, fostering independence, resilience, and a love for learning in preparation for secondary education.

In joining our family of schools, you will be appointed to a school within a local area and we will work with you to offer deployment to a school that is suitable for you geographically, and that matches your skillset, development and the needs of the school. This brings opportunity and flexibility should you wish to consider working in other schools that bring different challenges and experiences to further develop your practice and input to a wider community. Deployments will always be in consultation and for full academic years unless in exceptional circumstances.

  • Wakefield 'Central' (OPA Ledger Lane, Lofthouse Gate, Kirkhamgate, Park Hill, Greenhill)
  • Wakefield 'South', Barnsley, Doncaster (OPA Bell Lane, Newstead Green, Littleworth Grange, Darfield and Woodlands)
  • North (OPA Greystone, OPA Alne)
  • East (Outwood Junior Academy Brumby)

Responsibilities

The Primary Classroom Teacher's core duties involve responsibility for supervision and the progress of children in allocated classes, which includes striving to deliver outstanding and interactive lessons and ensuring differentiation and personalisation of learning for all children. The role requires applying current guidelines on effective learning and teaching, developing and implementing a scheme of work, and providing good quality assessment using formative and summative methods. Teachers must also evaluate lessons and their teaching strategies to reflect and act on strengths and areas for development, track children's progress against their targets, and promote the consistent and fair use of the behaviour policy within the Academy environment. Furthermore, the teacher acts as the first line of contact for parents' and carers' concerns regarding their child's performance and well-being.

Qualifications

The essential qualifications for this role are Qualified Teacher Status and a relevant degree. The successful candidate must have experience or training within the primary phase and experience of planning, assessment, and teaching of the National Curriculum. It is also essential to have experience in the use of positive behaviour strategies. The role requires good personal ICT skills and an understanding of Assessment for Learning. Additionally, the teacher must comply with the academy's Child Safeguarding Procedures and report concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
