We are seeking prospective colleagues who share our passion for developing well-rounded individuals and align with our core purpose. We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and inspiring classroom practitioner with a real passion for Geography. Applications are invited from both newly qualified and experienced professionals.

Humanities at Outwood Academy Carlton consists of 8 faculty members, including 4 History and 4 Geography teachers. We have state-of-the-art smart boards in each of our rooms and access to a central computing area. The Humanities team works closely together, creating a supportive environment.

Geography helps students make sense of the world around them. At KS3, we study a 3-year curriculum covering a wide range of exciting topics. Fieldwork is extremely important to our department, and we are introducing new field visits and local studies to our curriculum. At GCSE, we follow AQA, covering units such as Natural Hazards, Living World, Coasts and Rivers, Urban Change, Resource Management, and Fieldwork.

History is critically important, as everything happening around us has been influenced by the past. We have a fully inclusive and diverse curriculum, including the opportunity to study local history. At KS3, we cover topics such as Ancient World Medicine, Medieval England, and the Tudors. At GCSE, we follow the Pearson Edexcel exam board, studying units like Early Elizabethan England and Medicine Through Time.

Outwood Academy Carlton is an Ofsted Good rated, 11-16 academy based in the friendly village of Carlton in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. We believe that learning should be enjoyable and enriching, with a knowledge-rich curriculum designed to personalise learning for every student.
