Outwood Academy Adwick is an 11-18 academy located just north of Doncaster. Our Ofsted inspection confirmed a "supportive and caring culture" where staff build "warm and friendly relationships" with pupils. As a One-to-One Maths Tutor, you will be the bridge for students who need focused, calm, and encouraging support to help them say, "I get it now". You will join a vibrant department of 8 teachers who are a mix of experts and those new to the profession, all backed by the strategic support of our Trust’s Maths School Improvement Partners. The department has created a rich and engaging curriculum with deep roots in teaching for understanding. Our curriculum is differentiated by depth to ensure all students build firm foundations, develop confidence and retain their learning.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver knowledge and skills to small groups and on a one-to-one basis with secondary maths students.
- Prepare resources to meet student needs, and use resources directed by the Head of Department (HoD) or the School Improvement Partner.
- Maintain the needs of young people first, demonstrate a passion for learning, strong interpersonal skills, and ICT and emotional literacy.
- Contribute to flexible scheduling; hours are typically part-time with some variation to best meet academy curriculum needs, to be discussed as part of the application process.
Qualifications:
- Hold qualified teacher status, or be a qualified HE or FE teacher, or demonstrate a track record of effective teaching.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to work with individual pupils to progress their learning.
- Have subject-specific knowledge.
