The Outwood Institute of Education is currently seeking a Catering & Cleaning Assistant to join our high performing team. The Outwood Institute of Education is a network providing professional development for school staff. As the Catering & Cleaning Assistant to work for our conference centre during the day, you will support the OIE events team in ensuring the centre is kept clean and tidy throughout the day and with serving catering to delegates. We manage and organise multiple events on a daily basis and expect professionalism and high standards from every person working for the OIE.

Duties will include:

  • Set-up and clearing away of any catering provided for our delegates
  • Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the conference centre
  • Providing a professional service to ensure high customer care

Normal working hours are 11:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. Term time only.

The successful candidate will be based at the Outwood Institute of Education, Tenter Balk Lane, Adwick, Doncaster, DN6 7EQ.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food, producing high-standard meals on a daily basis
  • Rigorously following food hygiene and cleanliness standards in accordance with health and safety, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations at all times
  • Washing dishes, cutlery, containers, and all catering equipment
  • Cleaning all catering areas daily to an agreed standard, ensuring they are free from hazards
  • Operating as a cashier as required and under supervision
  • Ensuring the safe operation of kitchen equipment
  • Reporting all accidents or incidents

Qualifications:

  • Essential qualifications include a Level 2 or equivalent certificate in Food Hygiene, or demonstrable experience of working at that level
  • Experience or knowledge of working with food in a kitchen environment is required, alongside experience and understanding of customer service
  • Essential skills include the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of academy child safeguarding procedures and the ability to relate to students in a pleasant manner
  • A willingness and ability to obtain and enhance qualifications and training is essential
  • Experience of working in a school environment and qualifications in Health and Safety are desirable
  • A satisfactory DBS check is required
