Job Overview
Outwood Primary Academy Lofthouse Gate seeks a Teaching Assistant and Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join from 1 September 2026. The role involves supporting teaching and learning in Maths and English during morning periods and covering PPA of class teachers as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant in the afternoon. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with teaching staff to assist teachers throughout the planning cycle and classroom management.
Working Pattern
• 16 hours per week as a Teaching Assistant
• 12.5 hours per week as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant
• Monday to Friday, term time only plus two additional days per term
• 24.5 hours total per week
Responsibilities
• Support classroom teaching and learning of Maths and English
• Assist teachers in the whole planning cycle
• Manage classroom resources and support pupils’ progress
• Cover PPA of class teachers as an HLTA in the afternoon sessions
• Foster a positive learning atmosphere and build effective relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
Qualifications
• Evidence of experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
• Good curriculum knowledge in core subjects, especially Maths and English
• High expectations for all pupils and a commitment to student development
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
