Working pattern

The role is part‑time and full‑year, with the following schedule:

  • Week One: Monday and Tuesday
  • Week Two: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Responsibilities

As Business Manager you will provide overall strategic leadership and management at an academy level of all aspects of administration, HR, and operations support within the school. You will be the school’s leading support staff professional and provide leadership and management of the school’s support staff. You will also maintain a strong relationship with the school’s Finance Manager and ensure that the school’s resourcing needs are clearly interpreted into the budget setting process.

As a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team, you will also receive strategic support, direction and development from the Trust’s Deputy Chief Operating Officer.

Qualifications

This strategic role requires a degree‑level qualification (or evidence of continuous professional development with demonstrable experience considered).

You must have essential HR experience, including dealing with a wide range of Human Resources issues. Furthermore, you need experience contributing at a strategic level within a senior management/leadership team, and knowledge and experience of managing risk assessments and health and safety legislation.

Experience leading, managing, and motivating staff is also essential. A Human Resources qualification and experience working in a school environment are desirable.

The successful candidate will be a member of the academy’s Senior Leadership Team. Whilst the role reports to the Principal, the Business Manager will also receive strategic support, direction and development from the Deputy Chief Operating Officer.

You will have a solid background in leading and motivating colleagues and developing strategies to improve the support services of a school and be able to confidently make independent decisions on operational issues.
