The predicted salary is between 37000 - 47000 £ per year.

Outwood Academy Normanby is seeking a One-to-One English Tutor to start as soon as possible on a temporary contract until 31 December 2027. The salary is based on qualifications and experience:

  • M6 Higher rate for those with QTS - £35.78 per hour
  • UN5 Medium rate for those with relevant degree but no QTS - £25.77 per hour
  • UN1 Lower rate for those with no degree or QTS - £17.83 per hour

Working hours will be casual and determined through discussions between the academy and the successful candidate.

About The Role

As a one-to-one tutor, you will contribute to raising the standards of student attainment by planning, implementing, and delivering a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum in English. You will deliver intervention programmes to students in collaboration with department staff, using your understanding to discuss underperformance and develop suitable intervention materials to improve student performance. You will also liaise with department heads and teachers to provide feedback on student development and support exam-specific revision sessions.

Applicants should ideally be educated at degree level in the relevant subject and must hold at least an AS/A2 level qualification in English. You must have the ability to work with students up to GCSE level.

Responsibilities

The One-to-One Tutor will:

  • Deliver intervention programmes to individuals, working with department staff to prepare and implement appropriate learning experiences.
  • Assist in developing suitable intervention material, lesson plans, and resources.
  • Report on individual pupil progress and regularly liaise with the Head of Department and teachers to provide feedback.
  • Support exam revision sessions and comply with Child Safeguarding Procedures at all times.

Qualifications

We require a Graduate in a related subject or an AS/A2 level in a relevant subject or be a qualified teacher. You must possess excellent communication and listening skills, alongside strong time management and organisational skills. Essential abilities include supporting students with English work up to GCSE level and having a working knowledge of standard computer packages. Experience of working in a school environment is desirable.
