Outwood Academy Bydales is an 11‑16 school located in the beautiful coastal village of Marske‑by‑the‑Sea, close to the North York Moors National Park and with spectacular views of the coastline. Our recent Ofsted Inspection recognised the many strengths of the school, securing judgements of Good across all areas and highlighting our ambition, staff care for pupils and the industrious attitudes students demonstrate.
About the Role
As a Learning Manager you will support learning through data, strategic intervention and monitoring to maximise student attainment. Your day‑to‑day work will involve working closely with students and the leadership team to improve behaviour, attendance and outcomes, supporting both academic and behavioural needs.
Responsibilities
- Strategically monitor all students in the assigned year group, using MIS systems and Praising Stars data to identify concerns and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
- Serve as the first point of contact for behaviour‑related incidents and support the Consequences process, including contacting parents regarding exclusions and supporting readmission meetings.
- Act as an inter‑agency liaison, chairing Children in Need and Team Around the Child meetings, undertaking referrals for families, and supporting the Education Welfare Officer with truancy sweeps.
- Coordinate year‑group logistics such as vaccinations and photographs, and manage attendance checks.
Qualifications
- Proven working experience in a school environment, with demonstrable knowledge of issues affecting students and young people.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to engage a wide range of audiences.
- Proficiency in standard ICT packages, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work well under pressure, manage competing deadlines and demonstrate empathy for students.
- Experience liaising with external agencies supporting vulnerable students (desirable).
