Are you a proactive and engaging individual with excellent classroom management skills, ready to step in and ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences? This role is to supervise whole classes during short‑term teacher absences and implement work programmes under the guidance of teaching staff.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise whole classes during short‑term teacher absences, implementing preset work programmes.
  • Manage student behaviour according to the Consequences Policy to maintain a constructive working environment.
  • Assist in preparing the learning environment and materials, respond to student questions about the set work, and collect completed assignments.
  • Supervise student entry and departure, accurately record and report lesson attendance.
  • Support examination logistics by assisting in exam invigilation and reporting on pupil behaviour or issues via referral procedures.
  • Organise the daily cover rota for absent staff and contact teaching supply agencies to arrange supply staff.
  • When cover is not required, support in the classroom as directed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences.
  • Maintain confidentiality and utilise standard ICT packages, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to relate to students pleasantly and sympathetically and recognise potential safeguarding issues.
  • Experience working in a school environment is desirable.
  • Willingness to obtain and/or enhance qualifications, training and development.
  • Integrity, imagination and energy.
