About the Role
Are you an inspiring leader passionate about the rights, potential, and futures of young people? We are seeking a Team Manager to lead our Young Peopleās Supported Housing serviceāsupporting care leavers, young people experiencing homelessness, and those navigating mental health or housingārelated challenges.
As Team Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of a highāquality, empathetic, and empowering service. You will lead a dedicated team of Support Workers and a Deputy Manager, overseeing operational delivery, housing management, safeguarding, partnership work and contractual compliance. You will be central to creating a safe, supportive environment where young people can build skills, sustain their tenancies, and achieve their goals for independence.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop the Young Peopleās Support Team through supervision, reflective practice, coaching, and structured appraisals.
- Ensure each young person has coāproduced support and risk management plans that promote independence, safety, and positive outcomes.
- Provide strong operational oversight of service delivery, rota management, housing and property management, and performance reporting.
- Oversee voids, allocations, and referralsāworking closely with partners and the Young Peopleās Supported Housing Panel.
- Promote safeguarding, risk management, and lessonsālearned reviews across the service.
- Build effective working relationships with commissioners, social workers, families, and multiāagency professionals.
- Manage service budgets responsibly, ensuring value for money and contract compliance.
- Ensure high standards of record keeping, health & safety, and inspection readiness.
- Provide management cover including evenings, weekends and participation in the onācall rota.
- Champion resident involvement, supporting young people to shape the service and their living environment.
We are seeking a committed and resilient leader who believes in the potential of young people and understands the realities faced by care leavers and young people navigating homelessness or mental health challenges.
Essential Requirements
- At least 1 year of staff management experience within supported housing, youth services, homelessness, social care, or a related field.
- Experience delivering housingārelated support services, including tenancy sustainment, risk management, and moveāon planning.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk in relation to young people.
- Experience preparing for audits, inspections, or contractual performance reporting.
- Ability to lead teams through reflective practice, coaching, and performance management.
- Strong partnership skills for multiāagency working.
- Confident in property management processes including repairs, health & safety checks, and ASB management.
- Good IT skills and confidence using digital systems and communication apps.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and onācall duties.
Desirable
- Experience of traumaāinformed practice, psychologically informed environments (PIE), or restorative practice.
- Experience of managing services for young people specifically.
- Qualifications in health & social care, youth work, or management (Level 5 or above).
