Dreadnought Programme
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer - External Communications to support delivery of external communications systems within the Submarine Combat Systems domain on the Dreadnought Programme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead systems engineering activities for maritime external communications systems
- Derive and manage technical and functional requirements from User Needs, CONOPS and CONUSE
- Define system architectures, interfaces, and acceptance criteria
- Provide technical authority, SME input, and guidance across design, build, integration, installation, and commissioning
- Support supplier management, verification, testing, and customer acceptance
- Identify engineering risks, report progress, and support recovery and change activities
Skills & Experience:
- Strong background in maritime defence external communications systems
- Experience across multiple phases of the engineering lifecycle
- Platform and ideally sea-going experience (build, trials, operations, or in-service support)
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills
- Strong awareness of Product Safety and SHE
