Overview
Stage 1 Design Engineer contract for BAE Systems via Outsource UK. Location: Primarily Remote | Onsite at Scotstoun, approximately once per quarter for 2 to 3 days. Duration: 12 months. Hourly Rate: £34.14 PAYE or £45.95 Umbrella. This position is not suitable for Stage 2/Detail Design candidates.
BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Stage 1 Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for candidates with prior Stage 1 engineering experience within BAE Systems, enabling them to hit the ground running.
Please note: Applications without Stage 1 experience will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of BAE Stage 1 processes to support ongoing projects.
- Use ZX and CPA processes, including completing and maintaining associated checklists.
- Manage and maintain compartment Bill of Materials and part data within Windchill.
- Act as a Compartment Owner, integrating systems across multiple disciplines and managing dependencies.
- Review vendor and supplier documentation against specifications to identify compliance and non-compliance.
- Support the BAE change process, including creating changes in SEMPRE and developing related documentation.
- Participate in vendor design reviews, including PDR, SRR, and CDR sessions.
- Apply and manage Design Rules, including handling exceptions as required.

- Proven experience with BAE Stage 1 engineering processes.
- Strong working knowledge of Windchill, SEMPRE, ZX, and CPA processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
