BAE Systems are seeking an experienced Spacecraft Operations Engineer to join a specialist team supporting current and future satellite missions. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role across the full mission lifecycle, from concept and ground testing through launch, commissioning, routine operations, and end-of-life activities. You must be eligible for SC clearance.

The Job:

  • Assess existing spacecraft operations processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate operational constraints, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Lead enhancements to operational procedures, mission planning, and commissioning activities.
  • Support live spacecraft operations, including anomaly investigation and resolution.
  • Drive best practice across planning, scheduling, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Optimise operational tools, workflows, and service delivery processes.
  • Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to strengthen long-term team capability.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in spacecraft or satellite operations within the space industry.
  • Strong understanding of satellite subsystems (AOCS/GNC and/or OBDH experience advantageous).
  • Experience with mission control systems, planning tools, operational software, and simulators.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of orbital mechanics and flight dynamics.
  • Experience of formation flying and/or proximity operations missions.
