Senior Systems Engineer – Defence & Radar Systems

Location: North London

Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 DOE

Employment Type: Permanent

Join a leading defence and surveillance technology organisation working on the next generation of radar and naval systems. We’re recruiting a Senior Systems Engineer to play a critical role in delivering complex projects, from initial concept through to final acceptance.

As part of a skilled engineering team, you will work across the full systems engineering lifecycle – including bid support, system design, integration, and customer delivery – contributing directly to national and international defence programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead systems engineering activities across the full development lifecycle: from concept through to delivery and acceptance.
  2. Produce specifications, develop integration plans, conduct verification, and support customer acceptance activities.
  3. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams (software, hardware, mechanical) and stakeholders to define system-level requirements.
  4. Deliver innovative product solutions based on advanced radar technologies.
  5. Prepare and present documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  6. Support bids and proposal writing.
  7. Travel within the UK and internationally may be required at short notice.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. Strong experience in systems design, integration, and test.
  2. Understanding of the full systems and product development lifecycle.
  3. Ability to work across engineering disciplines and coordinate technical activities.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Self-motivated with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  6. Engineering degree (or equivalent experience).
  7. Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  8. Background in radar, naval systems, navigation equipment, or defence platforms is preferred but not essential.
  9. UK Security Clearance or the ability to obtain it.
