We are currently recruiting for an experienced Strategic Supply Chain Lead to join BAE Systems at their Warton site. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a complex and highly regulated supply chain environment, supporting strategic supplier relationships, performance improvement and delivery across critical programmes. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and key suppliers to ensure supply chain objectives are achieved while identifying opportunities to improve cost, quality, delivery and overall supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support strategic supply chain activities across key programmes and projects.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance against cost, quality, delivery and risk objectives.
- Identify supply chain risks and develop appropriate mitigation and recovery plans.
- Lead supplier performance reviews and improvement initiatives.
- Analyse supply chain data and provide clear recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Support commercial and procurement activities, including cost reduction and value-generation opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Programme Management and other business functions.
- Drive continuous improvement across supplier performance and supply chain processes.
- Provide leadership and guidance on supply chain matters across assigned areas.
- Ensure supply chain strategies are aligned with business and programme requirements.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in strategic supply chain, procurement, supplier management or a similar role.
- Strong experience managing and developing supplier relationships.
- Excellent commercial, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing supplier performance, risk, cost and delivery.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, including the ability to influence at all levels.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a complex programme environment.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain processes and continuous improvement principles.
- Excellent IT and data-analysis skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Experience within aerospace, defence, engineering or manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
