About the Company: Outsource UK's client are a global bulk liquid storage and distribution organization, seeking a Mechanical Technician to join their team in the Aldermaston area.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment within the plant, in line with the Asset Maintenance Management System (Maximo). This includes inspecting, repairing, and maintaining pumps, valves, compressors, and other mechanical systems to ensure they operate efficiently and safely.
- Respond to maintenance alerts and potential issues proactively. Address defects, breakdowns, and operational changes promptly to ensure minimal disruption to operations. This may require troubleshooting mechanical issues, making temporary repairs, or escalating to more senior staff as needed.
- Work closely with the operations and technical teams to assess plant performance and resolve defects. Provide clear, concise information to relevant managerial and technical staff about any ongoing issues, repairs, or modifications being made to plant equipment.
- Provide out-of-hours support when necessary including being part of an out of hours on call rota. This may involve emergency call-outs to attend to breakdowns or defects, requiring flexibility in working hours. Respond quickly and effectively to incidents, working autonomously and collaboratively as needed.
- Implement planned and preventative maintenance schedules to avoid unplanned downtimes. Ensure all scheduled work is completed on time, including any checks, parts replacement, and testing to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifecycle of equipment.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, ensuring all work complies with relevant industry regulations and safety standards. This includes risk assessments, isolating equipment before work begins, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, particularly in relation to the handling of hazardous materials in the petrochemical or process industry.
- Use the Maximo system to track work orders, log maintenance activities, and ensure all completed tasks are documented. This includes entering details of maintenance tasks, materials used, and time taken for each job. Regularly update the system to ensure that asset management records remain current and accurate.
- Regularly travel to different locations across the pipeline system network to carry out inspections, maintenance tasks, and repairs. You may need to inspect equipment at various plant sites, responding to issues that arise and ensuring the equipment meets operational standards.
Key Skills Required:
- Experience in a maintenance role within the petrochemical or process industry, ideally within a similar plant or facility environment.
- Understanding of Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) regulations and the ability to work in environments where these regulations apply.
- Familiarity with Maximo, or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), to manage maintenance workflows, track asset conditions, and record maintenance activities. The ability to use the system efficiently to log work orders, record downtime, and update asset data is crucial.
- Strong mechanical knowledge, particularly in relation to pumps, valves, compressors, and other essential mechanical systems. You should be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults effectively and ensure equipment operates at optimal performance.
- Ability to work independently and respond to out-of-hours maintenance emergencies, including understanding the urgency and prioritization of repairs.
- Flexibility to work outside regular hours, including emergency call-outs and on-site troubleshooting during plant incidents.
