Role: Mechanical Engineer
Client: BAE Systems β Submarines
Location: Barrow in Furness (Hybrid)
Contract: 6 Months, 37 hours per week
Security Clearance: BPSS + SC + UK EYES ONLY
The Role
As part of the HVAC and Cooling teams, you will play a critical role in gathering, managing, and analysing heatload data for equipment across the submarine platform. This work underpins the design and integration of cooling and environmental systems, requiring persistence, technical judgement, and strong attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and manage heatload data for all equipment consumers.
- Liaise with equipment owners to secure complete and accurate information.
- Maintain and ensure the quality and traceability of the central heatload database.
- Scrutinise and challenge submitted loads for technical accuracy and robustness.
- Identify opportunities to improve cooling efficiency across the platform.
- Analyse aggregated heatloads to support HVAC and Cooling system integration.
- Ensure data delivery aligns with programme milestones.
- Promote and maintain high standards of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE).
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Awareness of cooling technologies and thermal management principles.
- Relevant engineering experience in mechanical, thermal, HVAC, or systems engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Good organisational skills with attention to accuracy and consistency.
