The role
You will provide leadership and oversight of pipeline operations and maintenance to ensure safe, reliable and compliant performance across a high-hazard pipeline network. Acting as deputy to the Pipeline Manager, you will oversee Control Centre operations, manage specialist teams, and act as a key stakeholder across projects, integrity, and operational improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead safe, compliant pipeline operations and maintenance activities
- Deputise for the Pipeline Manager and support regulatory audits and interventions
- Oversee Control Centre operations and supervise pipeline specialists
- Ensure effective safe systems of work, permits, and management of change
- Monitor network performance, defects and incidents, leading investigations and resolution
- Manage O&M contracts, budgets, procurement and cost control
- Produce KPI data and monthly operational reports
- Maintain operational procedures, training, and competency standards
- Support operational improvement projects and long-term expenditure planning
About you
- Valid UK driving licence
- NEBOSH or equivalent safety qualification
- Strong experience in high-hazard environments such as pipelines or bulk fuel terminals
- Good knowledge of COMAH and Pipeline Safety Regulations (PSR)
- Experience using SCADA/DCS systems
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, and supervisory skills
- Confident with MS Office and operational reporting
- Flexible to support occasional travel and out-of-hours work
