Outsource UK’s client is a global Oil/Gas/Bulk liquid storage and distribution firm looking for a new Electrical Engineer. Acting as Technical Authority for electrical systems and equipment, the successful candidate will ensure risks to safe operation are recognised, assessed, and appropriately mitigated, provide technical support, leadership, and guidance to projects, operations, and maintenance.

This role is responsible for plant modifications, preparing designs and specifications for new electrical systems and equipment. Other responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the application of appropriate electrical engineering codes and standards and management of any deviations from standards.
  • Site Electrical Equipment includes: Power Transformers, HV/LV Switchgear Air, Vacuum and Oil, HV/LV distribution, ATEX and FLP Motors, Motor Starters, HV / LV VSDs, Soft Starts, UPSs, Hazardous Area Cabling/Containment/Junction Boxes and Earthing and Bonding Systems.
  • Responsible for all electrical equipment/system performance standards.
  • Designated Electrical Competent Person under Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Provide assurance to the UK & IRE Engineering Manager that the MOC process is applied correctly.
  • Lead in the identification and scoping of projects and plant modifications.

Skillset required:

  • Significant electrical system design experience, load lists, SLDs, cable sizing, fault level, protection grading studies, and motor starting calculations.
  • Specification of equipment for installation in Hazardous areas and have Risk Assessment, Site Commissioning, and Troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience as designated competent person under Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Experience in a COMAH regulated industry or similar - managing ageing assets, training and mentoring site electricians, design House/EPC/Contractor and working on technical standards committees are desirable.
  • CEng is desirable, but not essential.
