Outsource UK are on the lookout for a skilled Wiring Technician to join a leading defence and engineering business based in North London. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented professional to become part of a well-established production team supporting advanced radar and defence solutions.
The Role As a Wiring Technician, you\’ll play a key role in the assembly, installation, and maintenance of cable and wire harnesses used in complex electrical systems. You\’ll be responsible for ensuring all assemblies meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and connectors following engineering drawings and specifications.
- Perform cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and splicing of wires and cables.
- Carry out inspections and testing to ensure all assemblies meet required standards.
- Record and maintain accurate production and test documentation.
- Work collaboratively with engineers and supervisors to resolve production issues.
- Maintain tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
About You You\’ll have hands-on experience in electrical or electronic assembly and a strong understanding of quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years\’ experience in wire harness assembly or similar field.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Confident using hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards (certification preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving ability.
- Team player with good communication skills and a proactive mindset
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, data entry, electronic record keeping).
