Based: Warton, Lancashire
Hourly Rate: £60.00 PAYE or £81.05 Umbrella inside IR35
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Onsite: 3 – 4 days per week
Length: 12 months
Would you like to be part of a specialised team delivering world-class mission systems engineering capabilities, while shaping the future of defence technology for generations to come? BAE Systems is currently looking for Lead Systems Engineers to join their Mission Systems (E853) team at Warton.
The Job
- Lead or contribute across the entire engineering lifecycle—from concept and requirements to design, implementation, and certification.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside engineers, planners, and delivery partners.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and coordinating cross-functional collaboration.
- Support agile delivery through regular team meetings, resource planning, and task coordination.
- Produce key engineering artefacts and documentation.
Skills
- Degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent experience
- Proven systems engineering expertise across the lifecycle
- Proficiency in tools like UML/SysML, MATLAB, MoDAF, or similar
- Mission systems experience (especially in EW, DASS, Sensors, or RF domains)
