Outsource UK is currently seeking an Assembly Technician to join a leading Defence company based in North London. This role will involve working with high-complexity electromechanical products, contributing to the development and manufacturing of marine radar navigation equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, test, and rework electromechanical radar equipment to a high standard of quality, focusing on maritime applications.
- Follow detailed procedures, drawings, documents, schematics, and instructions to ensure accuracy in assembly and rework tasks.
- Perform operations such as soldering & unsoldering, wiring & crimping, drilling, filing & cutting, reworking printed circuit assemblies, and applying mastic & adhesives.
- Assemble wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and connectors based on engineering drawings and work instructions, following IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Proactively troubleshoot, inspect, and check your own work, as well as the work of others.
- Contribute to the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other documentation.
- Raise defect reports and ensure that corrective actions are taken.
- Maintain accurate records by entering data into the company’s business management system.
- Work within a team to implement continuous improvements and uphold the highest standards of quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to 5S standards and safety protocols.
- Take part in various tasks to support the wider operations team.
Key Requirements:
- At least 2 years of experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good numeracy and literacy abilities.
- Proven proactive ability with excellent attention to detail and strong team-working skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Previous experience in a cellular manufacturing environment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of radar systems is a plus.
