Technical Author – Technical Publications (Defence) Contract : 12 months- ongoing Location : Telford- 3 days onsite- 2 remote Clearance : SC Cleared or eligible for SC Rate : To be discussed Client : Defence Overview We are seeking an experienced Technical Author to deliver a full suite of AESP publications for armoured land vehicles. You will be responsible for defining, authoring, and assuring technical documentation to military standards. This is a long-term opportunity to contribute to a mission-critical Defence programme. Key Responsibilities Content Definition : Review tasks, resolve documentation queries, and prepare data for authoring. Technical Authoring : Create high-quality technical documentation in accordance with AESPs, military standards, and best practices. Schedule & Risk Management : Support project milestones and proactively identify project risks. Compliance & Quality : Ensure content meets industry, customer, and internal standards. Process Improvement : Continuously drive improvements in authoring processes and documentation efficiency. Collaboration : Engage with engineering teams, training managers, and production colleagues to ensure delivery excellence. Cultural Contribution : Promote a β€œright-first-time” culture within the team. Required Skills & Experience UK national with active SC clearance or eligible to obtain it (DBS required). Proven experience in technical authoring within Defence or engineering environments. Strong working knowledge of Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP) . Familiarity with armoured land vehicles and complex mechanical systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel). Excellent written and verbal English communication. Strong stakeholder management and issue resolution skills. Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently.
