Location: Full-time, On-Site in Huddersfield at David Brown Defence
Potential for Temp to Perm
Rate: £22.12 PAYE or £29.19 Umbrella
Duration: 12 months
About the Role
BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to support gearbox design projects. You will work on the mechanical design of high-integrity gearboxes and supporting systems, collaborating with engineering and functional teams.
Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop geared transmission systems.
• Modify and improve existing designs.
• Create technical documentation.
• Use 2D and 3D CAD tools (Solid Edge preferred).
• Support Production Engineering and Supply Chain teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Skills & Experience Required

• Strong mechanical design knowledge.
• Understanding of manufacturing techniques and materials.
• Experience with industry standards (ISO, AGMA, DIN).
• Proficiency in Solid Edge or similar CAD software.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering.
• HNC or equivalent in a Mechanical discipline.
