Location: Barrow in Furness (Hybrid, 37 hours per week)
Client: BAE Systems
Duration: 14 Months (with opportunity for extension)
Hourly Rate: £66.12 Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)

Overview

BAE Systems Submarines is seeking an experienced Engineer to provide regulatory and compliance support across nuclear-licensed and high-hazard facilities in Barrow. You\'ll advise on nuclear site licence, authorisation, and environmental permit requirements, ensuring compliance with HSE and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide independent advice on nuclear and/or environmental compliance matters.
  • Support event screening, reporting, and investigations.
  • Interface with regulators, site teams, and external stakeholders.
  • Interpret and apply nuclear and safety regulations to project activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in safety and compliance culture.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in a nuclear or high-hazard regulated industry (e.g. chemical, petrochemical).
  • Strong regulatory interpretation and technical report writing skills.
  • Confident stakeholder management and communication with regulators.
  • Background in compliance, safety case, or assurance roles desirable.
