As Lead Technologist, you\’d be the technical authority for the entire Toys category, with direct impact on everything from product safety and quality, to innovation, supplier performance, and customer experience.
You\’d work across the full product lifecycle — from initial development through to launch — helping make sure all toy products are not only fun and engaging but also safe, legally compliant, and built to a consistently high standard.
You\’d be responsible for:
- Leading the technical agenda for the entire Toys range
- Working with a wide network of suppliers, designers, buyers, and overseas teams (especially our Asia sourcing office)
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations (UKCA, CE, EN71, REACH etc.)
- Managing risk assessments, product testing, and technical documentation
- Troubleshooting product issues and supporting cost-saving or process improvement initiatives
- Driving continuous improvement across supply chains, production quality, and sustainability
It\’s a highly collaborative role where your decisions will directly influence product success, brand reputation, and customer trust.
We\’re ideally looking for someone with:
- Solid experience as a technologist or QA/Compliance expert in toys
- Strong understanding of product safety legislation (e.g. EN71, UKCA/CE)
- Experience working with suppliers, particularly Far East sourcing
- Confident communication skills – you\’ll be dealing with everyone from suppliers to exec teams
- A customer-first mindset – someone who cares about how products perform in real hands
- And ideally, some leadership or mentoring experience.
