Role Overview
BAE are seeking a Mechanical Designer (HVAC) to join our team supporting the design and delivery of HVAC systems for the River Class Destroyer Programme for the Royal Canadian Navy. This role provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-profile defence programme while developing your expertise in HVAC engineering within a complex, integrated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare specifications and develop Stage 1 HVAC system design solutions in line with requirements, standards, and quality criteria.
- Support and participate in the Zonal Integration process, ensuring the 3D model reflects design intent and meets compliance standards.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and modification of engineering processes and procedures in response to technical or operational needs.
- Conduct technical analyses and investigations, evaluating and selecting options, and prepare reports with recommendations.
- Review contractor documentation, including equipment drawings and compliance policies (e.g., shock).
- Support senior engineers in engaging with customers and suppliers to resolve issues and ensure shared awareness of priorities and objectives.
- Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree (or equivalent qualification with appropriate further learning) in Engineering, Technology, or Science.
- Working towards professional registration (IEng) with an appropriate professional body (IMarEST, IMechE, IET, CIBSE).
- Experience in HVAC systems design, including calculations, schematics, and psychrometrics.
- Awareness of design processes, tools, and industry standards in HVAC engineering.
- Knowledge of HVAC integration within broader systems.
- Some experience in the marine or building services sectors preferred.
