Location: Prestwick
Hourly Rate: £38.21 Umbrella (INSIDE IR35)
Contract: 12 Months
Clearance level: BPSS + SC
BAE Systems are looking for a skilled a Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in a wide range of aircraft design activities, contributing to projects such as the Atmospheric Research Aircraft (ARA) Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU). You will provide specialist electrical design advice and ensure compliance with airworthiness, national, quality, and SHE requirements.
What You\’ll Be Doing:

  • Deliver a range of electrical design engineering tasks across aircraft platforms
  • Create, review, and approve engineering drawings and documentation
  • Develop modifications and support third-party design organisations
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues related to aircraft systems
  • Ensure all designs meet airworthiness, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Act as a technical advisor within the team, supporting junior engineers
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects with a focus on quality and delivery
  • Potential to become a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE), subject to approval

What We\’re Looking For:

  • Experience in aircraft or electrical design engineering (aerospace, defence, or related industries)
  • Strong understanding of design standards, processes, and regulatory compliance
  • Confident communicator, able to work with engineers, suppliers, and customers
  • Capable of solving complex problems and working independently or in teams
  • Leadership skills or experience guiding others is a plus, but not essential
