BAE Systems are looking for a skilled a Design Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in a wide range of aircraft design activities, contributing to projects such as the Atmospheric Research Aircraft (ARA) Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU). You will provide specialist electrical design advice and ensure compliance with airworthiness, national, quality, and SHE requirements.
What You\’ll Be Doing:
- Deliver a range of electrical design engineering tasks across aircraft platforms
- Create, review, and approve engineering drawings and documentation
- Develop modifications and support third-party design organisations
- Investigate and resolve technical issues related to aircraft systems
- Ensure all designs meet airworthiness, safety, and regulatory standards
- Act as a technical advisor within the team, supporting junior engineers
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers
- Manage small to medium-sized projects with a focus on quality and delivery
- Potential to become a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE), subject to approval
What We\’re Looking For:
- Experience in aircraft or electrical design engineering (aerospace, defence, or related industries)
- Strong understanding of design standards, processes, and regulatory compliance
- Confident communicator, able to work with engineers, suppliers, and customers
- Capable of solving complex problems and working independently or in teams
- Leadership skills or experience guiding others is a plus, but not essential
