Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Clevedon
Salary: Up to £43,000 + Bonus + excellent benefits

Outsource UK is looking for an experienced Electrical Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to join a market-leading engineering business in Clevedon. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to advanced manufacturing solutions that support global industries such as semiconductors, LEDs, solar technology, and more.
The Role
You will report to the Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation Manager and play a key role in designing, implementing, and commissioning electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation for industrial projects. This includes supporting field trials, ensuring best engineering practices, and contributing to timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to develop cost-effective, standards-compliant solutions.
- Assist in resolving engineering issues and escalate complex matters when needed.
- Support the design and development of safe, modular product systems and subsystems.
- Contribute to project planning, managing personal workload, and meeting delivery milestones.
- Prepare and review technical documentation including manuals and service instructions.
- Provide support during factory testing and field commissioning.
- Embrace new technologies and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Experience & Skills
- HND or Degree in Electrical, Controls, Instrumentation, or Software Engineering (Essential)
- Hands-on experience in electrical controls and instrumentation product design (Essential)
- Knowledge of PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text, function blocks) and HMI programming (VB.net or similar)
- Familiarity with Modbus communication, PID loops, P&I diagrams, and electrical schematics
- Understanding of compliance standards such as LVD (EN/UL61010, EN60204), EMC (EN61326-1), and Functional Safety (EN61508)
- Strong communication and influencing abilities
- Proactive problem-solving and collaboration mindset
- Highly organised and able to manage changing priorities
- Passion for innovation and learning best practices through mentorship
