What You\’ll Be Doing
As a Data Platform Engineer , your key responsibilities will include:
Designing, developing, and maintaining robust, secure, and scalable data pipelines using Apache NiFi and related technologies.
Troubleshooting, optimising, and maintaining NiFi flows — addressing performance, error handling, and throughput challenges.
Integrating NiFi with cloud platforms, SQL/NoSQL databases, APIs , and third-party systems.
Ensuring data infrastructure adheres to strict security and compliance standards.
Supporting data migrations and implementing disaster recovery strategies.
Monitoring data infrastructure performance and recommending continual improvements.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business and regulatory needs.
Producing documentation to ensure operational transparency and knowledge sharing.
You\’ll also uphold high standards of safety and environmental responsibility in line with company policy, promoting a culture of care and compliance in everything you do.
What We\’re Looking For We\’re seeking a professional with a passion for data engineering and a proven ability to work in regulated or high-security environments.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
3+ years\’ experience in data or platform engineering, or a related technical field.
Expertise in Apache NiFi , including FlowFiles, Processors, Controller Services, and scheduling.
Proven ability to design and optimise batch, real-time, and event-driven data flows.
Experience integrating diverse data sources and systems (databases, APIs, cloud services).
Strong understanding of data security, compliance , and governance principles.
Proficiency in Java and SQL ; familiarity with C#, Scala , or scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is a plus.
Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux (RHEL) , and virtualisation tools (VMware, Citrix).
Desirable:
Exposure to data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
Experience operating in hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
Knowledge of data modelling, replication, and query optimisation techniques.
