The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of complex heavy marine civil engineering projects.

You will take technical ownership of site engineering activities across works such as quay walls, jetties, ports, coastal structures, piling, reinforced concrete, cofferdams and heavy temporary works.

Working closely with the Project Manager, site teams, designers and specialist subcontractors, you will ensure that construction is delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with programme and specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor the engineering team for marine and heavy civil works.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications and design information, resolving technical issues before they affect construction.
  • Prepare and review method statements, risk assessments, inspection and test plans, permits and temporary-works documentation.
  • Coordinate piling, reinforced concrete, earthworks, drainage, marine structures and associated subcontract packages.
  • Manage quality assurance records, including check sheets, test results, as-built surveys and handover documentation.
  • Monitor progress against programme and provide accurate engineering and productivity updates.
  • Raise and manage RFIs, technical queries, non-conformance reports and design changes.
  • Check subcontractor works and ensure compliance with approved designs, tolerances and specifications.
  • Support procurement by reviewing quantities, materials, technical submissions and lead times.
  • Work closely with marine operations, lifting teams and temporary-works personnel.
  • Champion health, safety and environmental performance throughout delivery.

About You

You will have

  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant site engineering experience within heavy civil engineering, preferably on marine or coastal projects.
  • Experience with relevant works such as piling, quay walls, jetties, cofferdams, reinforced concrete, retaining structures or heavy temporary works.
  • A sound understanding of construction tolerances, quality assurance and temporary-works procedures.
  • The ability to read and interrogate complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • A valid CSCS card and appropriate site-management or safety certification.
  • Flexibility to work around marine operations, tides and project requirements.

Experience with Auto CAD, Civil 3D, BIM, marine plant, NEC contracts or engineering projects in operational ports would be advantageous.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on technically challenging, high-profile marine infrastructure.
  • A competitive salary or contract rate with an attractive benefits package.
  • Career development supported by experienced civil and marine engineering professionals.
  • Exposure to major piling, concrete, temporary-works and marine construction packages.
  • A collaborative environment in which engineering judgement and practical problem-solving are valued.
  • [Accommodation/travel allowance/company vehicle/pension/healthcare, where applicable.]
  • Apply

Submit your CV with a brief summary of your experience delivering heavy civil, marine, coastal, port or structural engineering works.

We welcome applications from capable engineers who may not meet every listed requirement but can demonstrate strong transferable heavy-civil experience and the ability to succeed in a demanding marine construction environment
