We are working with a specialist engineering contractor delivering innovative, sustainable and low-carbon energy systems across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design and delivery of heat-network and distributed-energy projects.

Based primarily across London sites, you will act as the lead electrical engineer on several live projects while working closely with the wider multidisciplinary engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious and collaborative business where you will take on meaningful responsibility and contribute throughout the complete project lifecycle—from early-stage concept design through to construction, commissioning and operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical engineering delivery of heat-network and distributed-energy projects.
  • Produce and coordinate concept and detailed electrical designs.
  • Support projects through design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
  • Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the appropriate selection and delivery of equipment.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple live projects.
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers, project managers and other technical disciplines.
  • Review project performance and produce clear technical reports.
  • Resolve electrical design and site-related technical issues.
  • Ensure designs and installations comply with relevant standards, specifications and project requirements.
  • Attend project sites throughout London, with occasional travel to other UK locations.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in an electrical engineering position.
  • Strong understanding of LV power systems within industrial, commercial or multi-residential environments.
  • Knowledge of transformers, main and sub-distribution boards, cabling, containment, power-factor-correction equipment and UPS systems.
  • Experience producing cable-sizing calculations using software such as Amtech.
  • Experience delivering projects from concept and detailed design through to construction and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with Auto CAD, Revit or similar design software would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience within heat networks, energy infrastructure, utilities or low-carbon engineering would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with clients, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach, with a willingness to solve new and complex engineering challenges.
