We are working with a leading specialist engineering contractor that delivers innovative and sustainable energy systems across the UK.
Due to a strong pipeline of low-carbon projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their London-based team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work across the complete engineering lifecycle of major heat-network projects—from detailed design and procurement through to construction, commissioning and operation.
The Role You will work across a variety of heat-network projects throughout London, combining office-based design and engineering responsibilities with site-based delivery during the construction and commissioning phases.
Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the technical development and successful delivery of sustainable, low-carbon energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed mechanical design and site-engineering work across heat-network projects of varying sizes and complexity.
- Support projects throughout the design, procurement, construction and commissioning stages.
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure appropriate product selection and successful delivery.
- Coordinate mechanical design requirements with site installation activities.
- Review technical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
- Resolve technical issues to maintain project quality and programme.
- Monitor, analyse and report on engineering and project performance.
- Work collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Report to the relevant engineering lead throughout the design, construction and commissioning phases.
Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least five years’ experience in a mechanical engineering position, ideally within the energy or building-services sector.
- A good technical understanding of heat networks, LTHW systems and heat-pump technology.
- Experience working across the design and delivery stages of engineering projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience using Auto CAD, Revit or Solid Works would be advantageous.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- A flexible and enthusiastic approach, with a willingness to take on new technical challenges.
- An interest in working across the full project lifecycle, from initial design through to commissioning and operation.
